Greetings! Over the weekend, Mark Longenecker and I hosted our tenth DUB YOGA event in Cocoa Beach! If you're not familiar, Dub Yoga is a fun hour-long unique Caribbean/reggae infused yoga flow taught by Mark Longenecker with Dub Reggae beats provided by yours truly :) Our good friend Drumming with Cam also provides live drumming for the event as well to add another rhythmic dimension to class.
We started the event as a fun, casual yoga class at our friend Roger Burleigh's Garden Center back in 2018 and have put it on at least twice a year since then. It was always an amazing time with everyone coming together in community to enjoy the positive vibrations of Reggae combined with yoga.
As the event grew, we started formalizing it a bit more, adding sponsors and vendors, creating a ticketed event and at least once annually, raising money for our favorite cause, Save The Indian River Lagoon via Marine Resources Council.
This past Dub Yoga we even added a sound system style Reggae concert with our headliner Bobby Hustle out of Los Angeles along with Kana Kiehm (Orlando) and Rob D of Part One Tribe (Cocoa Beach). Kana's friend Ali also rocked the mic with his impressive stylings.
The concert was absolute FIRE, and we were so lucky to have these artists add to the event by sharing their talents.
I had a blast as always collaborating with Mark on this event. He is truly an artist in every sense of the word, and you see it in the way he crafts his yoga classes he teaches weekly at Kula Yoga Merritt Island (also one of our event sponsors) as well as DUB YOGA.
At this point, I feel we are really perfecting our craft together when providing Dub Yoga--this time was our best delivery yet! Beyond that, I love how Mark goes out of his way to create the perfect ambiance for the event by bringing all of his reggae banners and setting up the Botanical Bar sponsored by our Title Sponsor, TyEd's Teahouse in Cocoa, FL.
